Farewell ISC Batch 2025
Students of Class XII were given an emotional and memorable farewell on 2nd February, 2026.
The programme began with a welcome speech followed by the performances of the students of Class XI which included a medley of songs, dances and a skit.
Our Respected Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Jayita Biswas shared inspiring words and wished them happiness and success for their future ventures.
The event ended with the distribution of mementos and crowing of Miss UCS and Mr. UCS.
CISCE Physical Fitness Check
The CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations) includes a Physical Fitness Test as part of Physical Education assessment to evaluate students’ overall health and fitness level. It focuses on measuring different components of fitness rather than only sports skills.
The test usually checks areas such as:
- Cardiovascular endurance – through running or step tests
- Muscular strength and endurance – through exercises like push-ups and sit-ups
- Flexibility – through activities like the sit-and-reach test
- Body composition – using height and weight measurements
- Speed and agility – through short sprints or shuttle runs
The purpose of the CISCE Physical Fitness Test is to promote healthy lifestyle habits, assess physical efficiency, encourage regular exercise, and track improvement in fitness over time. Our school conducted this Physical Fitness Test during the months of January and February for students from Grade I to Grade XII.
PEACE RALLY
A PEACE RALLY was held on 20th January, 2026, organised by Bengal Christian Council in association with Bangiya Christiya Pariseba and other churches in Bengal. This walk was led by led by BCC President the Most Revd. Dr. Paritosh Canning, Moderator Church of North India and Bishop of Calcutta, CNI. He was accompanied by our distinguished clergies, dignitaries, school Principals and others. Teachers as well as other staff members from all the CNI schools had joined the Peace Rally. The rally started from the grounds of St. Paul’s Cathedral and concluded at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, at the end of Mayo Road.
DEM FETE
DEM Fete was organised on 5th December, 2025 at the grounds of St. Paul’s Cathedral.
The Most Revd. Moderator, Dr. Paritosh Canning and other dignitaries visited our stall.
Our school had put up a stall, where items of art and crafts made by our students were displayed and sold. Visitors to the fete thronged our stall to get the delicious food items. Our ‘Tattoo corner’ remained busy till the end, each one wanted to have a design on their hands.
Jingle Bells Planet Yells -School Concert
On 1st December, 2025, our concert “Jingle Bells, Planet Yells” concluded beautifully, filled with smiles, music, and unforgettable moments.
We were honoured to have The Most Revd. Dr. Paritosh Canning, Moderator of the Church of North India, Bishop of Calcutta, Chairman of Union Chapel School as our Chief Guest. His Grace was delighted to watch the performance of the students and blessed them.
We are grateful to our students, staff, and parents for making it a memorable celebration.
Raffle Prize Distribution
On 15th November, 2025, a Raffle Prize Distribution was organized as part of the event, featuring exciting lottery prizes such as a bicycle, headphones, trolley bag, iron, pressure cooker, and many more. The initiative received an enthusiastic response from participants and attendees. All the money collected through the raffle will be donated to help the poor, making the event not only entertaining but also meaningful by supporting a noble social cause.

CISCE Shine Exam
SHINE (Student Holistic Individual Nurturing Evaluation) by CISCE is a competency-based online assessment designed to evaluate students’ conceptual understanding, problem-solving abilities, and application of knowledge across subjects. Our school conducted the SHINE examination from 18th November 2025 to 22nd November, 2025 for Classes III, VI, and IX, and all students participated enthusiastically. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, finding the assessment engaging and thought-provoking, as it encouraged critical thinking and a deeper understanding beyond rote learning.
ELT Workshops
On 8th November 2025, Mrs. Jyoti Lama and Mrs. Debarati Mukherjee attended the ELT English workshop organized by Madhubun Publishers, held at the prestigious HHI, Kolkata, on. The session was conducted by Lakshmi Ramanathan, an internationally acclaimed and award-winning English teacher. She introduced dynamic and innovative teaching methodologies for teaching English to primary students of Classes 3–5. Teachers from several reputed schools were also present, making the workshop highly interactive and enriching.
Olympiad Exams
Students from Classes I to X, had appeared for the tests on different subjects organised by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF).

NSO – National Science Olympiad
IEO – International English Olympiad
ICSO – International Computer Science Olympiad
were held from 7th November, 2025 to 22nd January, 2026 and 400 students had appeared. As the results of these exams was declared we were proud to note, that our students performed well and many of them received gold medals and certificates. Our Respected Teacher-in-charge, Mrs. Jayita Biswas, gave away the medals and certificates to the winners in our School Assembly.
Founder's Day Celebration
Union Chapel School celebrated its 58th glorious years of Founder’s Day on 31sth October 2025.
We were highly honoured to have His Grace, The Most Revd. Dr. Paritosh Canning, Moderator of the Church of North India, Bishop of Calcutta, Chairman, Board of Governors, Union Chapel School to have as our Chief Guest.
Message of encouragement from our Bishop added to the celebration. Mellifluous rendition by the Junior, Senior and Staff choir was appreciated by all present there. We pray that our school may grow from strength to strength.
DIOCESAN STAFF MEET 2025
Diocesan Staff Meet 2025, Interaction with Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of the Diocesan Institutions, under the Diocese of Calcutta (CNI) was held on 26th April, 2025 at St. James’ School Auditorium. The theme of the meet was ‘Journey with Joseph’. Our Respected Principal Madam, Mrs. Jayita Biswas along with other staff members of Union Chapel School had attended the meeting,
RABINDRA JAYANTI CELEBRATION
The 164th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated in our school on 8th May, based on the theme, “The Bard meets the Minstrel”, reflecting Tagore’s fusion of poetry and music. The programme commenced with the ceremonial garlanding of Tagore’s portrait by our Respected Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Jayita Biswas. Students showcased their talents through recitations and dances. The narrators beautifully steered the entire programme which enthralled the audience, our dear parents.
PREFECTS’ INVESTITURE CEREMONY
PREFECT INVESTITURE CEREMONY was held on 16th May, 2025. A solemn ceremony wherein the newly elected School Captains and Prefects took the oath to serve the school as well as their peers and juniors. The Revd. P.K. Nanda, Presbyter-in-charge, Union Chapel, blessed them and presented their batches. He advised them to imbibe the qualities of humility, obedience and to serve not to wait to be served. Our Respected Principal Ma’am in her message stressed on developing team work and encouraged them to take up their responsibility by upholding the values of Union Chapel School.
ANNUAL PRIZE DAY (JUNIOR SECTION)
On 23rd June 2025, Union Chapel School celebrated the Annual Prize Day Ceremony for the Junior Section. The ceremony was enlightened by the presence of our Chief Guest, Ms. Alphonsa Kumari, Child Protection Officer, UNICEF, West Bengal. Ms. Kumari shared her valuable thoughts and was much impressed by the achievements of the students. Revd. Sorojit Biswas presided over the ceremony and congratulated the achievers. Our Presbyter in-charge, Revd. P.K.Nanda blessed the students and encouraged them for better performances. Our Respected Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Jayita Biswas felicitated the distinguished guests and welcomed the parents.

On 23rd June, 2025, Union Chapel School celebrated the Annual Prize Day Ceremony for the Senior Section. The event was presided over by the Rt. Revd. Dr. Paritosh Canning, Bishop of Calcutta, Chairman, Board of Governors who not only congratulated the students on their excellent achievements but also encouraged them to do even better in the years to come.
Our Chief Guest, Dr. Madhumati Dutta, former Dean and Professor Dept. of Humanities and Social Science, IIEST, Shibpur was much impressed by the performances of the students.
Our Respected Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Jayita Biswas felicitated the honourable Members of Board of Governors, distinguished guests and welcomed the parents.
ICSE and ISC school toppers and subject toppers of both Science and Commerce Section were felicitated with medals and special achievement certificates.
The much-coveted Bishop’s Award was awarded to Shalini Dubey. The Principal Ma’am Award was presented to Arkojit Mukherjee for his perseverance and unwavering commitment to excellence.

The Junior English Elocution Inter House Competition was held in school on 4th August, 2025, with great enthusiasm. Students from Classes I to V participated, confidently presenting a variety of interesting poems.
The competition aimed to develop speaking skills and boost stage confidence of the young students. Judges appreciated the clarity, expression, and confidence of the young participants.

Students from Classes I to V not only participated in it they confidently presented the poems with enactment, dressed up in attires representing the characters of the poem, this added an amazing effect to their presentation.

Students came with their parents and friends and participated in playing various games and enjoyed lip-smacking dishes. The mela was a grand success.
On 15th August, 2025, observing the 79th Independence Day, Revd. P. K. Nanda, our Respected Principal Ma’am along with all the staff members, assembled at school and hoisted our National flag.
TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION
On 4th September, 2025, the Junior students of Union Chapel School began with a special morning assembly with a hymn, songs and speech acknowledging the contribution of the teachers. This was followed by special class activities organised by each class, to felicitate their teachers.
Senior students of Classes X & XII, gathered in the school portico, for a short cultural program. They presented medley of songs, dances, and a Quiz show on retro films for the teachers. It was a heartfelt celebration dedicated to showing their gratitude and love for the teachers.
Then they felicitated our Respected Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Jayita Biswas and presented potted plants and a bag of goodies to all the teachers. The program ended with the cake-cutting which was followed by a delicious lunch for the teachers.

YELLOW DAY JUNIOR SCHOOL
The junior students of our school celebrated Yellow Colour Day on 19th June, 2025 with great joy and excitement. The day was filled with sunshine and cheer as the little ones came dressed in bright yellow outfits. The classrooms and corridors were beautifully decorated with yellow balloons and craft items made by the children. Teachers introduced the colour yellow through fun activities such as colouring and object identification.
The purpose of the celebration was to help children recognize and appreciate the colour yellow, which symbolizes happiness, energy, and warmth. It was a fun-filled learning experience that brought smiles to every face and added a splash of brightness to the day!

On 21st June, 2025, Taaza TV, organised ‘Medha Samman’ an award ceremony at Dhano Dhanya Auditorium in which meritorious students – the Toppers of their Class XII of Board Exams 2025, were honored and awarded. Toppers from schools across greater Kolkata were invited. From our school, the Toppers of ISC 2025, Swayam Shree Sahoo, Tiasa Munshi and Rishika Gupta received the awards.
THE BENEFITS OF MUSIC EDUCATION (UNLOCKING POTENTIAL THROUGH SOUND) WITH THE ABRSM
Ms. Sonia Khan, a distinguished representative of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Mr. Sanjib Mondol, the HOD of Western Music of Bishop Canning Music Academy, visited our school on 1st July, 2025. Our Respected Principal Ma’am, Mrs. Jayita Biswas, felicitated our esteemed guests.
Ms. Khan elaborated on the importance and benefits of Music through a presentation – ‘The Benefits of Music Education (Unlocking Potential Through Sound) with the ABRSM’, to our students.
ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAM
On 2nd July 2025, a Road Safety Awareness Program was held at Union Chapel School. The program was led by Mr. Manabendra Biswas, Senior Sergeant of the Sealdah Traffic Police Guard. As part of the initiative, the students of our school actively participated in spreading awareness about road safety. They stood on the nearby streets holding placards with important safety messages and spoke to parents and pedestrians about the importance of following traffic rules. The program was both educational and impactful, encouraging responsible behaviour on the roads.
JUNIOR SCHOOL ART COMPETITION
Junior School Art Competition was organized in the school on 9th July, 2025. Students from Nursery to Class V enthusiastically participated in the event. They showcased their creativity through colourful drawings and imaginative themes. The competition aimed to encourage artistic expression and build confidence among young learners.
INK YOUR IMAGINATION COMPETITION 2025
INK your IMAGINATION, a story writing competition organised by Pilot pen Company was held in the school on 10th July, 2025. It was organised by for students from Classes VI to XII.
The competition not only brought out their storytelling skills but also helped them think beyond textbooks, creating characters and plots that reflected their unique perspectives.

Non-flammable Cooking Event
Students from Classes Transition to I, took part in a fun-filled event – Non-Flammable Cooking in their classes on 19th September, 2025.
The young chefs donning their white-coloured chef caps prepared delicious dishes like, ‘Fruit Salad’, ‘Aloo Chaat’, ‘Corn Chaat’, ‘Sandwiches’ and ‘Black Chana Chaat’.
The ingredients were brought and assembled into delicious dishes under the supervision of their teachers.
