MAY 2024

Students had organised a program under the guidance of their teachers to pay tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on 8th May, celebrating his 163rd Birth Anniversary. 

A wonderful presentation of his songs, poems, dances and drama around the theme – “Amra Natun Yuwan er Dut,” which translates to “We are the harbinger of the new era” was presented. This musical was based on Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s dance drama – ‘Tasher Desh’ – ‘The Land of Cards’.

Following the musical, senior students presented a choral recitation of the poem “Sabuj er Abhijan” in Bengali, Hindi, and English.

DIOCESAN STAFF MEET 2024 –an Interaction Programme with Teaching and Non-Teaching staff of the Diocesan Institutions under the Diocese of Calcutta (CNI) was held on 11th May in the premises of St. James’ School, auditorium.

JUNE 2024

International Yoga Day was observed in our school on 21st June. Students performed different yoga exercises and the importance of yoga was discussed for the benefit of the students. Students who had performed yoga exercises were felicitated in the School Assembly.

PREFECT INVESTITURE CEREMONY held on 24th June 2024, was a solemn event wherein the newly elected Captains and Prefects took the oath to serve the school as well as their peers and juniors with love, respect, honesty and loyalty.
The Revd. P.K. Nanda, Presbyter-in-charge, Union Chapel, blessed them and presented their batches according to their positions and Houses.

Union Chapel School hosted its Annual Prize Day on 29th June, 2024. It was a day dedicated to honor the outstanding accomplishments of our students.

The ceremony was presided over by His Grace, The Rt. Revd. Dr. Paritosh Canning, Bishop of Calcutta. Our Board of Governors, Heads of the institutions and members of the clergy present, blessed and congratulated the students as received their prizes, medals and certificates.

It was a pleasure to have Dr. (Mrs.) Madhumanjari Mandal, Principal, Scottish Church College as the Chief Guest. Her solemn words were a source of inspiration for our students.

JULY 2024

REACH OUT STAR AWARD CEREMONY – TOPPERS OF XII’, an award ceremony was organized 3rd July by Reach Out Star Foundation to felicitate the toppers of ISC Examination as well as the Head of the Institution. Gaurav Kumar Singh was awarded the prize for scoring 89% in ISC 2024.

Canteen for both Senior and Junior section was organised for the students, 3rd July, 2024 onwards during the break-time. This was done to collect funds that would be used to provide educational support to the underprivileged children. This initiative was taken up by each class gradually.

AUGUST 2024

Union Chapel School celebrated 78th Independence Day of our Nation with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. The celebration started with the hoisting of our National flag by Revd. P.K. Nanda, Presbyter in-charge and our Teacher-in-charge Mrs. Jayita Biswas along with the melodious presentation of our National Anthem by the staff and students.
Milan Mela was organised in the school premises, for the students, their parents and friends. Stalls like ‘Treasure Hunt’, Games section, Tattoo Corner, Music Corner were put up. To add to the fun, Food stalls were put up for the students.

APRIL 2024

On 13th April, IIHM had conducted the IIHM Teachers Chef Semi-Final at IIHM campus. Our teachers, Mrs. Moumita Sen, Mrs. Suparna Das and Mrs. Sumita Laha participated in the competition. 

MAY 2024

FUN WITH RED, a fun-filled activity day was organised on 2nd May for the Junior students – Classes Nursery, KG and Transition. Children celebrated this day by wearing red coloured dresses and painted and pasted posters with their drawings of things that are red in colour.

IIHM had conducted the ‘IIHM Teacher Chef India Schools – Finale 2023’ on 9th May, 2024. One of our teachers, Mrs. Sumita Laha had represented our school with pride. Her culinary skill was highly appreciated by the esteemed judges.

On 11th May, children of our Junior Section were very happy to showcase their love for their dear mothers on the special day of MOTHER’S DAY. They paid their obeisance to the mothers by reciting poems and drawing pictures.

Students from Psychology Department of Calcutta University had conducted a Survey on 15th May. Target group for the survey were the students of Classes VI and VII. 

JUNE 2024

Inter-House Chess Competition 2024-2025 was organised from 25th to 27th June.
The winners were – Tanushree Ghosh of XB – Emerald House, 2nd Runners up Saatrik Das of VIA – Topaz House and 3rd Runners up Chirag Shaw – Topaz House. 

Another fun-filled and colourful activity day – Yellow Day was organised on 26th and 27th June for the students of Nursery to Class I. 

Inter-House Chess Competition 2024-2025 was organised from 25th to 27th June for the senior students. ©

JULY 2024

JUNIOR SECTION INTER-HOUSE ENGLISH ELOCUTION was organised on 9th of July. Students from Classes I, II, III, IV & V representing the four School Houses recited their pieces, with a lot of enthusiasm. The judges had a challenging task in choosing the winners. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of all participants and thank our teachers for making this event a resounding success.

JUNIOR SECTION INTER-HOUSE HINDI ELOCUTION was organised on 10th of July. The zeal and the oratory skills of the students of Classes I, II, III, IV & V representing the four School Houses left the audience spellbound.

JUNIOR SECTION INTER-HOUSE BENGALI ELOCUTION was organised on 11th of July. Students of Classes I, II, III, IV & V representing the four School Houses showcased their talents by reciting works from eminent Bengali poets. The eloquence and expressiveness of displayed by the participants left the judges mesmerized.

CISCE REGIONAL GAMES and SPORTS 2024 – BOYS SWIMMING COMPETITION -2024 under 14, under 17 and under 18 was held at Adamas International School on 11th and 12th July. Mayukh Ghosh of Class IXA and Subham Sahoo of Class VIIIB participated in this event. It was a good learning experience for them. 

Senior students heartily participated in the INTER HOUSE CARROM COMPETITION that started from 12th July. 

Students of Classes VI to VIII, participated in the INTER-HOUSE DRAWING COMPETITION that was held on 15th July in our school. Students from both junior and senior section showcased their drawing skills through various themes related to daily life. 

Our students had participated in the CISCE Regional Games & Sports, 2024 Regional Carrom Competition, West Bengal & North East States for Boys & Girls Under 14, 17 19, which was hosted by Divine Mercy School, Howrah on 20th July, 2024. Students from 35 schools had participated in this event.
We are honoured that ‘Prabhat Khabar’, a Hindi daily newspaper published an article, congratulating the success of our students in bagging the 1st Runners up Trophy in Under 17 Group as well as 3rd position in Under 14 Group. They had participated in the Regional Carrom Competition, 2024 for West Bengal & North East States for Boys & Girls Under 14, 17 19. This event was organised by CISCE Regional Games & Sports. 

AUGUST 2024

Representatives of Camlin, one of India’s oldest art and stationery supplies companies visited our school on 1st August. They interacted with the students of our junior section and taught them various techniques of drawing. 

Cartoon Network, a leading television channel, organised a fun filled event – ‘Titans of Tomorrow – Save the Planet’, for the students of the junior section on 2nd August. This event was co-powered by Classmate, a renowned student stationery brand and Dettol. 

On 2nd August, the juniors at school enthusiastically celebrated Green Day, embracing the theme with vibrant green attire and decorations. The classrooms were adorned with eco-friendly crafts, showcasing their creativity and commitment to the environment.
Teachers organized activities focused on the importance of nature conservation, instilling environmental awareness in the young minds.
